Question:
Are the FDD-LTE bands universal?
Let's say a certain country lists their FDD-LTE bands as something like:
900/1800/2100
And the phone lists their bands as:
800/850/1700/1800/1900/2100
It should work because there is overlap right? As long as one frequency is the same, it should work?
This is such a basic question I should have been able to find it, but my searches were fruitless. (maybe because they are universal and my question is pointless?)
(I will ask questions about CDMA/GSM in another thread so as to uncomplicate the issue)

My question arises for the simple reason that I travel pretty regularly between the US, Japan and sometimes other countries in Asia (and in February I'm going to Turkey) and I want to buy an unlocked phone that works pretty much anywhere. I am phone shopping and decided on the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 64GB (Amazon has a sale on this phone for under 0). It looks like it has all the 3G/4G bands for all the countries I want to visit. But Japan is.... weird when it comes to these sort of things (This is the country that invented DVD regions for Christssakes.). They always seem to do something to make their technology a little different to isolate their market (and rake in more cash). On the Asustek site it lists the LTE bands as:
2G :
EDGE/GSM :
850/900/1800/1900,
3G :W-CDMA 800(6)/850(5)/900(8)/1900(2) /2100(1)MHz
4G :
FDD-LTE: (JP version)
2100MHz(1)/1900MHz(2)/1800MHz(3)/1700/2100MHz(4)/850MHz(5)/800MHz(6)/900MHz(8)/1700MHz(9)/800MHz(18)/800MHz(19)/700MHz(28)
Notice how they put "(JP version)" in front of the frequency list? Does that mean the Japanese version of the phone? or do they have a "special" FDD-LTE network in Japan?
It is very important to me that the phone works in Japan as I spend most of my time here.
