Do people here think its worth using a USB DAC for the S6?

Interested in other people's opinions on the S6's internal DAC. I just bought a Beyerdynamic A200P because it was on sale for 0. Eager to try it out I waited all week and received the unit last night and have been testing it for hours, doing many between headphones and ports, and honestly, I really can't tell any differences.

I was under the impression from audiosnob (audiophile) posts that the S6's internal DAC was basically garbage and that spending or more on a simple accessory would be a night and day difference. I'm trying real hard to notice if there are any subtle differences but all I'm really sensing is volume differences; audio doesn't feel cleaned up, soundstages don't feel any wider, and I'm starting to suspect maybe it'd just be better to stick with the S6's standard hardware rather than carrying around and using other hardware.

[Q] Hello you lovely Huawei people!

I've been looking at Chinese smartphones for a while but haven't yet taken the plunge. However, a colleague of mine asked me for my opinion and I nudged him in the direction of the X2, as it would have been what I would have gone for had I gone for one...

He went for it and I am impressed. But I didn't realise (probably niaively) that it would be so dislodged from Google. Obviously not completely detached, but there is no Play Store, G+, Play Services etc as you will all know. I've been on XDA for many years and I'm somewhat of an HTC fanbuy (see my sig ) so I know all about unlocking bootloaders, rooting, flashing custom recoveries, firmware, custom roms etc so I am absolutely fine doing all that. He has brought the phone back to me and asked if I can help him with it; basically give him a more "westernised" Android experience I suppose

So once unlocked, rooted and flashed the (apparently) only custom rom available (KangVIP), am I able to flash a gapps package to it? And if anyone has done so, would you please be able to point me to the right one to use? He tried adding google apps from the built-in appstore but they don't play nicely (I wouldn't expect them to), presumably because the framework isn't there

Coming from a long list of mainstream devices, it's amazing to me to see a subforum with only one of two threads :o I understand the lack of support isn't due to unwillingness though; just a lack of owners and developers. I've been on XDA so long because of how helpful everyone is and I try to help others where I can from my experiences and techy logic

I would be extremely grateful for a little bit of advice if someone wouldn't mind :) :good:

Thank you all

PS - The device is the 16GB 703L and is currently running the B106 update (EMUI 3.1)

Facebook contacts not syncing to People app no matter what I do.

Anybody have any suggestions? I have tried just about everything and I cannot for the life of me get it to sync properly. I go to accounts and add facebook. I check the sync contacts thing. I then go to contacts and try to link one and while the option for facebook is there it does not show any contacts. I have tried 3rd party syncing apps to no avail. I think it is a facebook issue/setting. Any ideas?

To all people who has the memory managment problem

My Moto G 2014 xt1068 did not perform well for a long time. I tried editing the lmk values with just a little improvement, I also added ro.MAX_HIDDEN_APPS to Build.prop with a value of 16. But with this, the phone tends to work ok until RAM gets full. Then it hangs for a lot of time and the screen goes black. But yesterday, without almost any hope I went to Kernel Adiutor and lowered the Z-RAM to 0. And man, that was awesome. Now my Moto G is another phone. I'm almost sure it's not placebo, because now I can listen to music while I'm navigating on chrome and I have Facebook Messenger chat heads active, and before that was just not possible. So, if you want to give it a try, let me know if it worked for you and I hope I helped!

I'm on Minimal OS with the last update and no kernel added.

Looking for people to help me to upgrade victara to 3.10 kernel

Hi, few days ago I began working on a port of the 3.10 linux kernel for victara. I think it could be interesting as this version brings up some nice features. But it is still cool to get a more up to date kernel anyway. Unfortunately, the kernel is stuck to 3.4.y now so I'm posting here and hope interested people will help me, because this task takes a lot of time and there is some difficulties. I'm looking more for enthusiasts with some general and also Linux kernel specific knowledge but anyone who really wants to help is welcome, I think this will be very fun and we will share a lot of knowledge. If you are interested you can send me a PM. [emoji4]
