Google messenger not sending images.

Searched around and found that the app has some issues with apn's, and that it's a Google issue but could not find a an apn workaround.

It was fine and month ago, had sent some images to wife's note 4 that I had downloaded from Google images, still having the same images in the gallery I tried resending image, but now it fails to send,WiFi or regular data.

Any help will be appreciated.

Unable to switch default sms app to Google Messenger from Hangouts

I've just set up my nexus 6 with Fi, running the PureNexus rom. All my sms go through the hangouts app, although I have the default sms app to google messenger. This isn't a huge problem, but I would prefer to use the stock messenger app for its mms capabilities.
Any suggestions?
