Recovering all data from Xperia Z2 stuck in reboot loop

Hi there.

I updated my phone the other day and it ended up doing reboots with an error message regarding the update process. Before I hand it in for service, I wanted to make a copy of all the contents of the device..

So far, it looks like using some recovery kernel image and ramdisk is the right way to go, using "fastboot boot". What's a good image to use?

It's important that nothing is changed on the phone so I for example void the warranty.

Changing Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 housing from white to black.

Currently I'm in the middle of changing the full housing for my Note N7000. The original colour is White but I wanted to change it to Black. The problem is, the 2nd screen with white layout is sticked with the LCD behind of it.

Is it possible for me to transfer it to the new 2nd screen? I'll provide the picture with it later on.
Any replies are much appreciated.

From HTC One (M7) to Nexus 6P

Hi there!

I'm going from a rooted HTC One (M7) to the Nexus 6P very soon, and I have absolutely loved my One's silver/aluminum build and would like to get the 6P with the closest color to it.

Would that be the lighter aluminum color, or the darker one? (Obviously, it's not the darkest of the three...)

Help updating from custom 4.3

Hello.been out the custom scene for awhile now and dont wanna screw my phone up but need to update.

I have a tmobile note 3 on stright talk
rooted and running on a custom stock 4.3 rom that hasnt been updated in ages.

And id like to update to a newer stable ver of android. Maybe get it on par with a note 4??any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS in Advance.

Failed to change /cache file system from ext4 to f2fs

Hi guys... i want to ask whether anyone know how to solve this error,....i was succeed to change file system of /system and /data from ext4 to f2fs but i've got this error message after i'm trying to change file system of /cache by using twrp v2.8.70 :

E: mkfs.f2fs -t 1 /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 process ended with ERROR=255
E: Unable to wipe '/cache'
E: Error changing file system.

Sudden Battery Drain From Voicemail & Android OS

I'm running a Note 4 rooted stock with Emotion Kernel and have been getting at least 12-15hrs battery time for as long as I can remember.

Suddenly my battery is draining crazy fast, a full charge doesn't even last 8hrs with very minimal use.

I checked in Settings>Battery and see that Voicemail and Android OS are consuming 4-5 times everything else...voicemail??? I barely get any voicemails ever!
Below is a screenshot...if anyone has a fix for this please let me know...thanks.

Went from 5.0 to CM12.1 on my 2014 G and now I can't get data.

Definitely have the right apn, data is definitely enabled.

Are there new radios or something that I need for 5.1 vs. 5.0? I have an international Moto G, I'm not sure how to tell which number it is.

Downgrade From Marshmallow to Lollipop!

Hello everyone,
Guys please help me out. I recently updated my phone from Lollipop(LMY47O) to Marshmallow (MRA58M).
But you know issues with the new Android version. So, I just want to get back to Lollipop 5.1.1.

Please instruct how can I do that.

Software Update: Small security patch from carrier - install it or not?

On my Mega 6.3 I527M, I just received a notification for a security patch (screenshot attached). The notification is annoying as it's a consistent one, it's always there. I was wondering if it's safe to let it be installed?! I'm asking this because, I don't want to lose my root. For my phone, I gained root with my much difficulty and anticipation! It's still Knox 0x0 which is important to me and rooted. It's all good. So, if letting this patch be installed won't affect my rooted phone, please let me know I'll do it. If not, is there any way to get rid of this notification? It says patch downloaded... where Android stores these downloads so I can take a look?
I'm willing to install this patch 'manually' too, if it's possible?

From one noob to another...

It's sad reading all these threads about bricked devices. Thankfully I have yet to join that group. Why? Because I spend a lot of time reading and re-reading threads that don't make complete sense to me; hoping someone will post something that clicks in my head.
My first venture into the world of flashing was with my vz galaxy nexus. To say I was I little more than nervous is a serious understatement.
Since then, the nexus 5 and now the nexus 6 have both been unlocked and rooted successfully because I've read so much on these forums that I need glasses. One bootloop from flashing the first 5.1 image on the nexus 6 is, thankfully, the only issue I've had. I was seriously flipping out thinking I've spent 600+ for a paper weight.
An hour or so later, after A LOT more reading, I was up and running.
I am by no means a computer/ Android genius. I've seen the help, commands screen scroll in a terminal window more times than I'd like to admit because I was typing faster than I was thinking. The one command I have yet to type is fastboot oem lock. Never will either after reading waaaaaay to many threads about people bricking their devices.
Every issue I've ever had, someone else has had as well. The answers I need have always been in a thread or 2.

Gear S2 - Changing Firmware from US to EU

Yes, it was not a smart move, to get me a Samsung Gear S2 classic
in New York on my vacation. After connecting with my german Note 4 it Sees
working well. Language and even time and date format was correct.
Also the keyboard.
But it seems impossible, to install s-voice in german or general voice recognition. Allowed languages are english, french, spanish and i think ... chinese.
And weather shows temperature just in degree Fahrenheit and not in celsius.

Has anybody an idea how to change the firmware to the european version.
The samsung Service here won't help because it's not from here.

New LP update from Tmobile

I have a AT&T D800 but flashed T-Mobile D801 stock Rom. Yesterday, I received a new updated from T-Mobile (update.zip 51.4mb in size). I was going to flash it until I notied modem and recovery seems to be in it.
Can anyone tell me more? Should I flash this so called security update?
I could upload the file if needed.

How to downgrade from Marshmallow to Lollipop in Micromax Canvas A1

A few days back I upgraded my device from Lollipop to Marshmallow and facing a lot of issues since then.
Some of them are:
1. Phone gets hanged while trying to receive an incoming call.
2. Phone gets heated while doing nothing.
3. Battery drains faster than ever.
4. If someone's trying to call it would take longer than usual to connect.

Can someone tell me the steps to go back to Lollipop from Marshmallow?

Its been awhile since I've rooted a phone so my memory is rusty on a few things.
Firstly, I think I read somewhere in a tutorial that the OS I originally download the stuff to has to be windows based?

Then I have a few more questions,.
I upgraded to lollipop already but I dont think that will be issue, unless you say otherwise.

The alpha came out on the official release list for marshmallow.
Will the root interfere with my phones ability to receive that update?

Is it possible to downgrade from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2?

I recently upgraded to 5.1.1 on Telus and now I am having the network connectivity issues that have been reported on other threads. Specifically, when I am on WiFi and have LTE enabled, all phone calls go directly to voicemail when someone tries to call. If I turn of LTE it seems to work fine.

I am assuming it's an issue with LTE and 5.1.1 so just wondering if anyone knows of a way to downgrade to 5.0.2

12A update from 10B help?

So right now I'm on 10B, rooted with xPosed installed. However, I saw that the 12A update included touch improvements, and my touchscreen has been giving me issues for a while now.
Is there anywhere I could find a guide on how to update to 12A from 10B and keep root and xPosed? Or would anyone be willing to create a guide? Thanks!!

Update to final build of android 6 from d.p 3

I had installed factory images of android m d.p 3 on my nexus and custom recovery of TWRP.

Now as final android m is available i tried installing that but when i tried installing it over my dp 3 it doesn't get installed and shows error

Hello All,

As the flipkart sell is well known now, I have booked nexus 6 as I dont control the temptation of jumping from n5 to n6. The deal was also pulling me towards n6, as I got it at 13k :D (of course I have to give away my n5 to flipkart as part of the exchange offer )

My n5 is rooted running on stock android 6.0. Anybody who is using n6 (rooted), is it worth to exchange n5 for n6? Read all the reviews regarding battery issue, pink hue issue. Having said that shall I keep the n5 or should go for n6 as the deal is mind blowing.

Can I replace apps from root/system/app folder before installation?

Hi guys, I am using @fa1zali Optimus ROM v4.4.2, I got some issues so I am thinking of installing the same ROM again. I don't know much about android development but, if I extract the ROM package and replace the old apps from "root/system/app", replace them with the new ones(renaming the new ones with same name) and zip it again. Is it going to work or not? because if they are logged in some file then its not going to work.
And if I add some more apps there, they will get installed or not?
I am thinking of updating all apps before installation if its possible.
