Centre home screen custom navigation.

I'm not certain where this post belongs. Please be benevolent, admins, or direct me in the right direction.

I'm brand new to modding and even Android. After ditching the iPhone 4s and grabbing a OnePlus One, I'm loving Android and I'm finding lots of cool customization mods. As a graphic designer and html and css coder, I can get a little picky and will spend hours tweaking the smallest of things for a simple aesthetic cause.

While playing around with the look of my phone through themes and backgrounds I got a little itch to design something of my own:

The Basics: a simple home screen navigation. Press the centre and swipe one of eight directions to open up one of eight apps.

Details: I'm a huge norse mythos fan and what better thing to show it then a phone navigation based on the Vegvisir, a runic compass. Eight points, eight apps to call upon. I would like a black background with 50% grey of the Vegvisir already centred on the home screen, doesn't even have to be part of the navigation I could just have it on the background. Once the centre is pressed and held, I'd like it to start glowing or even just jump to white and highlight one direction of the Vegvisir. Let go with one of them highlighted to launch the app.

The Extra Mile: Maybe have it customizable through some menus to set apps right on the phone instead of coding what program to launch. Easing and effects to make it look pretty.

I'm brand new to modding Android. Let me know if you think it's too ambitious or if you know something similar that would do the trick (eight-direction swipe home screen nav). If you have any resources or know where I should get started please let me know.

Navigation Bar problem

Hello , since i upgraded to lollipop (B507) i reinstalled apex launcher and the problem is that the navigation bar background is black instead of transparent can i edit the build.prop to make it transparent ?

ATT G4 Tweaksbox Navigation bar error..

Installed and made a donation for the G4 tweaksbox so I could get a menu button back on the nav bar, however when I drag the menu icon onto the nav it still shows up on the actual nav bar as qmemo. Anyone else with the ATT variant having the same issues? Anyone know a fix?

[Q] Which is the best Kernel+ROM for just using navigation?

I want to use my old S2 for the car as a navigation only. Either Google Maps with data or Osmand without data. Which is the slimmest and best possibility (Kernel+Rom) for our phone? It should last long and be as clean as possible. Currently i am running cm from lysergic acid.

Bluetooth autoplays sound files in car when trying to use google navigation.

Until about a week or so ago when I connected N6 to car system via bluetooth and used google maps, I got just the google nav voice. Now I start hearing media files, even ringtones and movie sound tracks. I have turned off settings for autoplay in Bluetooth settings, and try to turn off in PowerAmp. Problem is if I stop or pause the playing of the sound track in Poweramp then I lose the Nav voice as well. If I pause or stop the track playing in the car system I also lose the nav voice sound. I have flashed nothing at all between the acceptable nav-voice-only behavior and the onset of the automatic media file playing. Only thing that has happened was playstore updates including PowerAmp, and Google Maps. I did a search in this forum but found nothing about this. Driving me more nuts than usual.
Any help would be appreciated .

Open map links with google Map app and not Navigation on Gingerbread 2.3.6

Hello Guys, i have a little problem, how can i force android to open map links directly with google Map app and not Navigation on Gingerbread 2.3.6. I'm using the app Urban Ninja and when i click on a adress link he always opens with Navigation app and not Map app, anyone has an idea how to change this? Thank you very much

No navigation buttons in landscape.

Hey everyone. First off, thank you for the time and effort you guys put in to these devices. Awesome work.

My question is that I am running Candy5 rom on an ls990 and the only issue I am having is while in landscape, I have no navigation buttons. I performed a clean install and have went through every setting that I know of. I Google my issue and have found nothing about it. . Hopefully something easy or I overlooked. Thanks.
