Remove partitions after trying out Ubuntu

Hi,
I tried out ubuntu on my phone a while back, but went back to CM because it was not working. Now, every time I flash an update to CM12.1 I get a lot of error messages about partitions that are left from trying out ubuntu.

Does anyone know how I clean up this partition mess?

Thanks,
J

Certificate error when trying to establish email account connection

I am trying to connect an email app (AquaMail) on my phone (Sprint Samsung Note 4, stock rooted, Android OS 5.0.1) to my email server (IMAP) using SSL. When I try this, I get the following error message:

Incoming mail server (IMAP): Invalid security (SSL) certificate. java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.

The server to which I am trying to connect is my own VPS. I do have a wild card certificate installed on the site and I believe it is installed properly. I say this because of the report I generated on www.ssllabs.com/ssltest:
  • Certificate: 100%

  • Protocol Support: 95%

  • Key Exchange: 90%

  • Cipher Strength: 90%

Two certification paths are shown: mail.mydomain.com -> StartCom Class 2 Primary Intermediate Server CA -> StartCom Certification Authority (one path shows this with SHA1withRSA and the other shows SHA256withRSA).

Looking at the Handshake Simulation section, it clearly shows that Android 5.0.0 functions properly, but is also shows that Java 7u25 has a 'protocol or cipher suite mismatch'. This same warning shows up for other, deprecated systems and is probably due to my having turned off older, insecure access protocols.

Can anyone suggest how to get this working properly? Yes, I could work around this by a) allowing all certificate or b) not using secure protocols; but neither of these are solutions.

Thank you for your help!

Trying to fix naturally bricked M7

Hi,

I'm trying to fix my friend's bricked HTC One M7. It's completely stock but won't boot (stuck on white HTC screen). On rare occassion I've seen it boot to the white Beats screen and just once it got to "starting apps" after a very long time (a couple of hours?) and hung there. Booting to bootloader, fastboot and getting into recovery works. I've tried fastboot erase cache, and a "factory reset" both from bootloader and from recovery. Factory reset from bootloader just reboots the phone to the white HTC screen. Factory reset from recovery seems to finish (after a long time) but the problem of being stuck on the white screen after rebooting isn't solved. I downloaded the appropriate RUU but fastboot oem rebootRUU only reboots me to the white HTC screen, not the black one as expected, so I can't continue with flashing RUU.

Verizon S5 B0G5 stuck on "Software Update Failed" after trying to root.

Like a month ago, my S5 home button started to act up. Verizon said they had to send me another phone. So, I unrooted that phone and sent it back. When I received the replacement phone, it was on 5.0 B0G5. At the time, there was nothing out to root it. I checked and found a page on here by jrkruse with the steps.
Long story short, the phone is bricked, I have been killing myself all day trying to find the stock firmware so I can flash it with Odin. I cannot find it NOWHERE!!!! Cannot use Kies because I do not have a recovery code. And for some reason, my s/n is not working when I enter it in kies to have it redownload 5.0..

So, I need the .tar for this firmware of if someone knows of a way that I can get it on the right track to continue to root it, I would appreciate it. In the meantime, I wll be using my backup..

Thx in advance!!!

I add my edits and than use this but get and error

I have tried to change 512M to 600M it will finish without error, however when I flash with fastboot flash system system.img, I get stuck on the Google screen and have to force off with power and get into bootloader to try again.

Any help would be great

Trying to flash N920T stock firware after a bad root issue.

Hi Guys

So I rooted my phone this morning and all was working good but after one of the restarts my note 5 would get stuck on the T-Mobile splash screen at boot. I wanted to flash the stock firmware for the N920T on Odin 3.10.7 but it doesn't seem to be working like it did with the noble kernel, I have attached some images with what I'm getting from Odin.

thanks for any help

No service when trying to enable AWS band - G900P

Hi folks,

So I followed the steps in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...s-to-t2886059/
to attempt to get LTE / AWS service on my G900P that's now on T-mobile. Bands I'm attempting to add are LTE 2/4 and WCDMA IV (AWS)

I've been able to write the NV values successfully (and verified they stuck after rebooting) with several tools - DFS, QXDM and EFS Pro. - so this doesn't seem to be an issue with getting the nv written. (I had KT-SGS5 kernel installed while trying this, as well as trying it on stock.) I'm writing the values via QXDM, EFS Pro and DFS don't seem to be able to write them.

However, as soon as I enable the WCDMA IV band (the only change to the GSM bands) and reboot, the phone is stuck in "No service" mode. Attempting to register on a network (via settings->Network providers gives "An error occurred while searching for networks". Toggling some of the band pref settings does nothing.

Disabling the band again restores service on reboot.

Should note that the only thing I'm doing different from that guide is I left the "band pref" alone for 3G bands. It was defaulted to all ones on my device so I felt it better not to reduce the number of options there.

Anyone else encountered this and able to offer insight? Or should I assume that because this band breaks service it means there's no RF cal data for it and there's no point trying further?
There is a report of someone with a G900P successfully enabling band 4 in the linked thread, so it *should* be possible, broadly speaking.

Should add I'm on rooted OG1. Maybe some additional protection in that update? Unfortunately I had to send in my phone for service and when it came back they'd updated it, so sadly no downgrading and I had to trip the knox bit to get root.

Getting no command when trying to get twrp working

Not sure if I am doing it right but how do you get twrp to show up on your phone? I unlocked bootloader and I think I flashed twrp correctly but when I try to go to recovery it says no command. Anyone else ran into this issue or know what is wrong? Thanks

Bluetooth autoplays sound files in car when trying to use google navigation.

Until about a week or so ago when I connected N6 to car system via bluetooth and used google maps, I got just the google nav voice. Now I start hearing media files, even ringtones and movie sound tracks. I have turned off settings for autoplay in Bluetooth settings, and try to turn off in PowerAmp. Problem is if I stop or pause the playing of the sound track in Poweramp then I lose the Nav voice as well. If I pause or stop the track playing in the car system I also lose the nav voice sound. I have flashed nothing at all between the acceptable nav-voice-only behavior and the onset of the automatic media file playing. Only thing that has happened was playstore updates including PowerAmp, and Google Maps. I did a search in this forum but found nothing about this. Driving me more nuts than usual.
Any help would be appreciated .

Considering trying xposed...

Ive come across a couple of root apps that want exposed, to either do more things or to work entirely.

Ive been wanting to try the swypetweaks app, to make the symbols appear on the newer themes, but it needs xposed.

Would installing xposed remove anything or stop anything i currently have from functioning? or does it simple allow more things to function? Id plan on making a backup before i started trying anything anyway, but i was just wondering if its supposed to wipe anything or not??

if something did get messed up and i had to recover from my backup from before i installed it, would it be uninstalled/totally removed once i restored??

basicallyi want to try it out but im afraid to mess anything up lol

Trying to make the best of a bad situation (root)

I have been hanging around on my Sprint Note 3, for quite a while looking for my next phone. I was thinking about waiting for the new Nexus 6, especially since I have a Google Fi invite. My girlfriend decided to surprise me by trading in my note 3, and adding me her at&t mobile value share. I am happy to be off Sprint, but my girlfriend didn't realize the downsides to the phone she got me. Battery, SD card is a little annoying, but of course no root. Yikes.

I'm going to attempt to keep the phone because it is a gift. But, for those on the note 5 bandwagon, have you found passable solutions to any of the things we always use.
Whether it's proper adblocking, disabling all the bloatware, or even being to completely remove what I don't want on my phone.

Has anyone found anything that can even help recreate the functions of root we all miss.

I like the phone a lot, but rooted would make me love it. Or gladly throw in a few hundred to a thousand dollar's to members researching over the new Knox subsystem.

FAILED (data transfer failure (Unknown error)) when trying to flash anything to phone

I have S-ON and a non-HK phone with an OS of 2.16.651 I believe. @Sloth tried to help me but to no success, so I'll try to see if anybody else can help me figure out the issue.
Basically, everything works up until I actually start to flash the phone. It gives me this error:
FAILED (data transfer failure (Unknown error))
There's a bit more to it, but that's mostly unrelated stuff (the command and blahblahblah).

I've tried 2 different computers and different ports on all of them. I don't have any other USB cables for my phone available, but this one works with my PS4 controllers finely so I'm guessing it should work fine.

If someone could help me and anyone else with my luck in the future, please answer. I don't want to have to resort to a store as I have no money and the store is quite far. Thanks!

EDIT: Something else to mention, there is no firmware on this device and only has an accessible bootloader and recovery. I currently have the bootlocker relocked. I had ViperOneM8, although uninstalled after realizing I had no access to WiFi (I ignored the disclaimer :c). I don't have a SIM card as this phone was given and I didn't buy it myself from any carrier, I have no service.

Errors While Trying To Install CyanogenMod

I am currently trying to install cyanogenmod on my HAM2. I have an unlocked bootloader, latest version of TWRP installed, and cynogenmod in the root of my sd card. I have cleared my cache, delvik cache, and system as well. However I keep getting an error telling me "unable to mount storage during GUI start up" and the other saying that there was an "error executing updater binary in zip external sdcard cyanogemod." Can someone please assist me as to how to resolve this issue ?:(

Huge amount of frustration with trying to deal with my phone

I soft bricked my HTC One M8 HK not too long ago, and had left it sitting in the dust for a while as I had no options of fixing it because I wiped the memory on accident (how I did, I don't know. Guess I'm dumb. That's not the point though). It's been sitting on my dresser for about 2 months being unused as I had no microSD cards in hand. All it had was an unlocked bootloader and working TWRP.

As of right now, I've tried to install 4 ROMs. All 4 did not work. I followed the instructions and unlocked my bootloader and did all other essential things. I installed ViperOneM8 before being ignorant that my WiFi wouldn't work. It was the only ROM I installed that actually booted properly. The only issue was that I had no WiFi. Had it worked, I wouldn't be making this thread. Then I got Android Revolution HD, installed it and it installed properly. I booted it into system, and it brought me to bootloader. This was the same issue I had while trying to install my first ROM, and still happens. Then I got CyanogenMod, and it didn't even install. TWRP told me it failed right off the bat. Same thing with whenever I tried to install a stock firmware recovery of the variant I have, HK Sprint.

Right now, I'm getting the 4.2.5 HK RUU in hopes that it works. I tried it previously, and it was a literal waste of time. I've been here for 5 hours trying different ROMs and to no success. I was very faithful I would get to use my phone again, although unless this RUU actually works, I don't have a lot of positive faith for my phone.

Are there any fixes for getting something like CyanogenMod to work? I actually really wanted this ROM after I remembered it, and was quite let down after it failed to work. Also, is there anything I should do with the phone before I go farther with anything?

Thanks for any help you all can give, I would greatly appreciate it. Sucks not having a phone, so I'll take any help I can get. Thanks once again!
