[HOWTO] Share screen and mirroring to chromecast on the Galaxy Tab 2

This is a quick tip to get chromecast screen share (or screen mirroring working). As you know, the latest official version from Samsung is the android 4.2.2, which doesn't have the screen mirroring feature. It has the ability to share specific apps via the chromecast app, however not all media apps appear there, games, etc. The errors that you may get if doesn't work properly are:

- Screen Casting is not optimized for this device; your experience may vary
- Casting screen to chromecast has ended

The rom that works is for the Galaxy Tab 2 P5100:

[ROM][P51xx][5.1.1] Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 AOSP-Project

Just click on the share icon on the notification toolbar and there you go. You don't even need the chromecast app except if you want to send specific apps (faster). If there's any issue and the screen goes black and stays black, or goes black and then quits, try changing the tablet DPI to 100 and try again. Then switch back to DPI 160 and should work:

- Connect via adb to the tablet

- To view current dpi:

Code:

adb shell dumpsys display | grep mBaseDisplayInfo

- To change to 100 dpi for example:

Code:

adb shell wm density 100 && adb reboot

After doing the dpi change from the first time the chromecast should notice and work from now on. Most or all 4.4.4+ roms should work.

Network share from app and/or adding app to "open with" list?

This should be simple, I can access my NAS no problem (nfs/smb shares) via file managers, and I've tried various cifs clients, but there does not seem to be any way to get at these shares from the file/open dialog in android, am I missing something, or does android STILL not have any built in way to browse a local network?

Another way to solve my issue would be to browse to the file with es and "open with" my desired app, unfortunately the apps I want to use seem to invariably not be listed, ie I'd like to use smart audiobook reader but is not associated with mp3 files and there seems to be no exposed way to change file associations??

QuickPic code share for storage increase

I wasn't aware of this app until it was pre-installed on a custom flash game in place of the default gallery.

I don't know how long they'll be around for, for such a massive photo storage cloud but the app has support for various other clouds and samba support as well. I initially wasn't that interested since I use Foldersync but I would like to try it out as my gallery for now, and that said it seemed I may as well get the bazillion Gig storage option. Doing it here keeps me from spamming my friends.

From the looks of it, you only need to get one referral, so if someone takes mine, please say so and repost a code assuming one is available, if not then I suppose its simply a good place for people to post who want space; referees get it as well therefore I'm unclear how it works in this regard.

[Q] "Unfortunately bluetooth share has stopped"

I'm sure it's been addressed elsewhere but none that I have found that actually fixes the issue or is at the least a work around. I keep getting the error message "unfortunately bluetooth share has stopped" and it continually pops up and has become a tremendous annoyance. I'm rooted, bootloader unlocked, running Android 4.4.2. The app "bluetooth crash resolver" does absolutely nothing to help and the directions as to how to manually edit the bluetooth text file (I forget the name) is like reading a foreign language to a simpleton like me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
