Now that I'm rooted, what are my tethering options?

Hi guys,

I'm rooted and would like to enable tethering. I know about enabling Hotspot if you have your MSL. Are there any other ways as I don't have my MSL?

Now that I'm rooted are there any apps that can give me MSL number? The app I've used only seems to work for HTC devices.

[HOW TO] Unlock tethering on Android 4.4 to Marshmallow 6.0

Google made a change from Android 4.4 which allows operators to know when users are using tethering and conveniently block tethered devices from accessing internet.

This can be fixed permanently using the following procedure and no root required on all rom types (stock, mod):

1) Enable developer mode (Go to Settings -> About phone, and click on the build number until the developer mode is enabled).
2) Enable USB debugging under Settings -> Developer options
3) Connect the device with a USB cable to a computer with the Android SDK platform tools installed
4) Start an adb shell: adb shell
5) In the adb shell, run this command:

Hello people!
as you know you can not downgrade from 5.0 OF6 up (including OG1 which is the last update)
I'm not from USA and use the s5 unlocked! but the tethering or hospot is locked or not WORKING at OG1. looking for ways to unlock many found none that works. so install a rom stock deodexed based NL3 internationally and works great! without much bloatware and stable performance! :o :o
steps

1 With OG1 install a recovery (TWRP O CMW)
2. international rom download, do full wipe, flash the rom
3. flash the kernel via odin OG1
4. enjoy!

[Q] Lost Tethering

Until last week I have tethered away happily on my rooted, s-off'd M8 running ViperOne 4.3.0 (Android 5.0.1 with unlimited data), this week I noticed that I am seemingly unable to tether any longer. It will show that my hotspot is activated but only if the stars align will anything connect to it and when it does it runs slower than dial-up and then informs me that I'm offline. I've tried installing various tether apps but they all seem to pose the same difficulties. Not to mention if I do get the hotspot enabled most often my tablet (my main tethering options) doesn't even see my SSID (it isn't hidden). I've tried removing my the encryption and doing an open network but still the same.

I've verified that in my system/customize/acc file that the tethering is set to 0. Even tried replacing the default.xml file to no avail.

Any ideas?

tethering hack for T217S?

I want to tether with my T217S (tab3 7.0 sprint) I have a 500MB plan so I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to. I am stock 4.4.2 on the newest update, root and with TWRP installed. anyone know of a way?

Windows dont find other Windows when use USB tethering

When I used to connect to the modem as regular way (just the cable to connect to modem and other pc using wireless to connect to modem) both the pc could recognizes in same network and I could play LAN games normally.
Now I just use the phone in usb tethering to connect to the modem and noone see other in same network whatever I settup manually inside windows and now noone game find the LAN server.

I seached in find that is a problem with IPs in android, I have an android 2.3 rooted and other 5.1 non rooted, I tried Port Forwarder but dont know how to settup this, tried this http://android.stackexchange.com/que...-pc-lan-gaming using ip route in my roted phone but the codes did not work. I dont know what to do right now, just only need that Left4Dead find the server as lan game and if I make windows find other in same network im sure that will work :good:

-both of OS are Windows 7

T-Mobile Unlimited Tethering No More!!?

So today it came to my surprise that ii was using my 7GB ofTethering. So i guess t mobile blocked the the "dun" in the apn for unlimited tethering!

Any body have the same issue?

WiFi Tethering problem on NightOwl CM11

Hi everyone,
I have only just gotten on to the forums with my GT-N7000 as it was finally getting on top of me running like a dog.
Having read a number of threads it is amazing to see huge amount of work everyone's been doing. Congratulations, it's truely amazing!

After reading I chose bauner's Night Owl CM11 final ROM to upgrade to:

What a pleasure- it's like I have a new phone again, with a LOT more funcitonality!

Everything is working like a dream and I'm once again a happy camper until I realised, just before a presentation, that my tethering didn't work.... although it looked like it does.
I've seen that there have been a number of people reporting this issue on other ROMs but wanted to ask if it is a known bug on the NightOwl final and if there is a fix.

Thanks again guys, your hard work has just allowed me not to need to claim for a new phone off the NPO I work for here in South Africa .

I did some searching for this and it looks like the developer has discontinued support on Galaxy Tools but I found it through some searching. Thanks to the DEV. :D

Galaxy s6 sm-d920i no tethering after 5.1.1

Well i was using a ROM from India (im from Brazil) and it was working perfect the 5.1.1.

But my wifi was bad, had a lot of delay before it start opening a page, took minutes to receive messages from whatsapp and messenger and after some time i found that i was using the version from india, not the ZTO from brazil. So i got from sammobile the right stock one and installed it on top of my previous installation.

Few days ago my home internet went down and i tried to use my phone to tether my 4g, it creates the tethering without any problem or error but other devices wont see the hotspot, and i made sure it wasnt marked to hide SSID.

It seems like, he thinks he created it but it never start to broadcast.

Anyone had something like that ? Any idea ?

Access Point Names feature and Tethering Hotspot feature is missing

I'm from Myanmar (Burma). I bought Sprint LG G3 and I used SIM card from Myanmar. When I bought Sprint LG G3, it came with Android 4.4.2. After I bought, I upgrade to Android 5.0.1 Lolipop. After finish upgrade Lolipop, I can not use Access Point Names feature and Tethering Hotspot feature. And I also can not find these two features under Mobile networks. So I downgrade to Android 4.4.2. But problems is still cause.


I don't know what happen. I want to get back original android 4.4.2 from Sprint Company. Or I want to get these two features from Mobile networks tab.


Please help me
