supersu binary update failed on 5.0 device.

I've seen one or two threads that were in the same vein as this, but no clear resolution. Every time I open SuperSU, I get the message, "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?" I select "Continue," and am given the message to install it normally or through TWRP/CWM. If I try through TWRP, the phone restarts into TWRP, but does nothing. If I select "Normal," I get the "Installation failed!" message. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling SuperSU, but that didn't do anything.
I'm using 5.0 walton device.

Camera failed issue on 4.4.4

Hi,

I got a 2nd hand N915T running 4.4.4 recently . For the stock camera app, when it tries to auto focus, very often it will freeze for seconds and the resumes. And eventually, it will crash saying "Camera failed". Sometimes, it will just freeze with some random screwed up graphics.

I have tried wiping cache, but after a few pictures , it will happen again. I am not sure if it's a conflict of certain apps.

Is this a known issue with 4.4.4? Does it get fixed with 5.0.1?

Thanks.

i got into stock recovery and cleared cache, no change

Note 4 Bricked, Odin Firmware Flash Failed

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 MN SM-N910P. While trying to root it, it bricked and is stuck in bootloop. When I try to flash firmware through Odin I get the error eMMC Write Fail:Aboot

What does this mean and is it possible to fix? I can get into download mode and the TWRP bootloader.

Failed Marshmallow update/Stock Android (Locked Bootloader & Unrooted) Solution

First time poster, but thought I'd share how I managed to fix my problem, in hope that it helps someone else out.

I recently received the OTA Marshmallow update for my Stock Nexus 9 (unrooted and locked bootloader), but unfortunately it didn't work, and threw me into "bootloop" where it continually tried to apply the update but failed. First off I followed instructions to clear the Cache, which only made the problem worse, as all the tablet would do then was boot into the “swirling colour dots” and do nothing else until eventually the battery died.

After reading several forum posts I discovered that the usual solution is to flash via fastboot, however on a Nexus 9 you need to unlock the bootloader by activating "Enable OEM Unlock" from within Android. As I'm running a 100% Stock Nexus 9 I had never done this, so couldn't flash it.

Eventually though, after having an absolute nightmare trying to get it to work again, I found a working solution! Just use "Apply update from ADB" under Recovery, along with the correct update image!

A lot of what's in the steps below is likely to be known to most of the community, but I’ve tried to keep the steps extra simple so anyone can pick this up.

Steps:

1. Reboot into HBOOT (Hold down Volume Down + Power Button).

2. Press Volume Down to highlight Recovery, then press the Power Button to enter it.

3. Wait until the Google logo goes away, and you should see a picture of an Android laying on it’s back. Hold down the Power Button + Volume Up (very important to hold Power FIRST).

4. On the Recovery page it lists a few details about your version at the top. Note down the 6 character identifier for your device (which is in the format of 3 text characters, 2 numeric, and another text char). For me I was running 5.1.1 before the update, so my identifier was LMY48T.

5. Find the OTA update that upgrades from your current version to the next version. For me I was going from 5.1.1 to 6.0.0 on a Nexus 9, so I searched for LMY48T on Google and found that this was the OTA update needed: https://android.googleapis.com/packa...rom-LMY48T.zip

6. If you don’t have it already, download and install “Minimal ADB and Fastboot”: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2317790 – when it’s installed let it run straight away, and leave the command prompt open you’ll need it in a min.

7. If you don’t have it already, download and unzip the Google USB Driver: https://dl-ssl.google.com//android/r...er_windows.zip

8. Copy the OTA update file you downloaded to the folder that Minimal ADB was installed in (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot\).

9. Back on your device use Volume down to get to “Wipe Cache Partition”, and press the Power Button to activate it. If you want to be really sure this will work you should do a “Wipe data/factory reset” too, but be aware you will definitely lose your data.

10. Use Volume up to go to “Apply update from ADB”, and press the Power Button to enter it.

11. Plug your tablet into your PC (if it’s not already). You’ll need to go to your Device settings on your PC and you should see a new device named the same as your device or possibly just “Android”. Go to the Properties of the device and force the Driver to be the ADB Google driver from the Google USB Drivers that you downloaded earlier. (There’s plenty of other longer tutorials on how to do this if you’re having issues)

12. On your PC, in the Minimal ADB Command Prompt (that you should still have open from earlier) enter “adb sideload {NAMEOFOTAFILE}” e.g. for me this was “adb sideload ab835e17c874202049463ccd916f86fede83199e.signed-volantis-MRA58K-from-LMY48T.zip”.

13. Let it run. It took less than half hour for it to install for me, and I’m now the proud owner of a working Stock Nexus 9 with Marshmallow!

So why does this work but applying the stock images via fastboot doesn’t? As far as I can see it must be due to the “signing” of the files. The regular stock Google fastboot flash images don’t include signature information (as far as I’m aware) so they’re rejected as unsafe by the locked bootloader, whereas when you run the OTA update files through ADB sideloading signatures are on the OTA update files, and your device determines that these are safe to install.

_BKF_NV_W Failed (Using Upgrade Download tool)

Hi/Hello Sir/Maam

I am a owner of a Cherry mobile Flare S3 mini, which has a Spreadtrum Chipset (Sc8830). My problem is that I accidentally flash a rom that causes it to be deadboot. I look on ways on how to revive it and I find this "Upgrade Download Tool' which is a flash tool for spreadtrum devices. But I can flash my stock rom which is in .pac format through this Upgrade Download Tool because I always get this error "_BKF_NV_W", I dont know what that means and I really need somehelp. Can somebody here help me with this error? I would appreciate any help that will come to you with regards to this. Thanks and I hope that you can help me.

Verizon S5 B0G5 stuck on "Software Update Failed" after trying to root.

Like a month ago, my S5 home button started to act up. Verizon said they had to send me another phone. So, I unrooted that phone and sent it back. When I received the replacement phone, it was on 5.0 B0G5. At the time, there was nothing out to root it. I checked and found a page on here by jrkruse with the steps.
Long story short, the phone is bricked, I have been killing myself all day trying to find the stock firmware so I can flash it with Odin. I cannot find it NOWHERE!!!! Cannot use Kies because I do not have a recovery code. And for some reason, my s/n is not working when I enter it in kies to have it redownload 5.0..

So, I need the .tar for this firmware of if someone knows of a way that I can get it on the right track to continue to root it, I would appreciate it. In the meantime, I wll be using my backup..

Thx in advance!!!

Galaxy S4 Active "Firmware Upgrade Failed" on Boot

I have a Galaxy S4 Active AT&T model (SGH-I537) and I've completely screwed it up. I don't remember how, but I had it rooted on 5.0.1 I537UCUCOC6 and wanted to completely reset it by flashing it to stock because it was running really slowly. Well, I did something with Odin, something failed, and now it's telling me "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." Which I did, but Kies never recognizes the device. I've looked and looked but I can't find anywhere on how to fix this. Is there anything I can do? I am able to access the... I think it's called bootloader mode? (Been a long time since I've done any of this obviously) but pressing volume down and home while booting, so I can flash with Odin still I'm guessing.

N900a Failed to Mount EFS

I woke up today and my Note 3 was dead. I assumed the battery died as that is in all likelihood what happened. I plugged my phone into the charger and attempted to turn it on. It stayed on the Samsung logo for several minutes. I then booted it into recovery mode, and noticed at the bottom, E: Failed to mount /efs (invalid argument). I attempted a cache wipe and at first it said failed to mount /cache, however another attempt and it completed without error. I then tried a reboot with the same problem. Next I tried a system/data wipe and got the same problem (failed to mount efs).

So, I used a 4 part Odin flash to 5.0 Lollipop OEM. This succeeded and upon reboot the phone got as far as the AT&T logo then hung again. Once in recovery I noticed the same E: Failed to mount /efs (invalid argument). I have searched on this and many other forums attempting to resolve this issue without success. I've been at this nonstop for 12 hours now. I know of a way to use adb to create a generic EFS folder, the problem is the phone is 100% stock, including no developer options(adb), custom recovery, etc. Not even busybox.

Anyone with any info on how I can unbrick this phone would greatly appreciated. Or even how I can use Odin to install safestrap w/ root thereby giving me the ability to mount the system with TWRP and send adb commands that way. To clarify, I have access to nothing but the stock recovery and download mode without ADB active on the phone. Thanks for your time.

OTA update 2.33.709.6 failed at boot

I was trying to do the OTA update 2.33.709.6 in Taiwan.
At first, I flash the wrong stock recovery, so got the red exclamation mark screen.
Then, I flash the correct 5.0 stock recovery (thought so, as I was able to reboot my phone properly)

I did the OTA update, and got stock at reboot.
The screen just went black out after the white htc boot screen
I believe there are people having the same issues.
Please let me know how to fix it.
If possible, I would prefer not to flash ROM completely and keep my data.

I'm guess I need to flash the correct recovery and boot from OTA update 2.33.709.6.
Please share it with me if you have it.

Thanks.

N9005 Encryption Failed

Hi Guys

I'm selling this note 3 so followed advice to encrypt the phone to protect any data on it from recovery.

The processes staled after multiple hours so I restarted the phone and its not stuck on the Encryption failed screen and the reset device option doesn't work.

I tried using TWRP to erase all the data on the phone and tried flashing a new rom but the message remains.

The phone was on a custom lollipop rom and has now been flashed to the latest omega rom.

Any one managed to resolve this on a note 3 ?

Thanks

Richie
